USING OUR WONDERFUL GIFT
We have seen how our bible have come down to us in our own language and just how blessed we are to have such a wonderful heavenly father and lord Jesus whose guidance led to different ones to produce it for us.
In order to thank them for this wonderful gift we now need to read it and ask for guidance to understand it because not only does it give us our history but it contains information for our future.
When you first open its pages you might think, this is far too hard to read and understand, but if you step back and think of the events that, it refers to, it may help you to see it in a different light. For instance, Jesus taught in story form, illustrations, not because people were child-like in those days, but because it is a good way to teach. Not heavy or full of facts and details which would bog anyone down, but most people will remember stories.
So if you look upon the bible as a large story of events I am sure it will help you to understand it better. For instance: ~
In the beginning our lord made the earth to be inhabited by perfect human beings and all the wonderful different animals for them to enjoy and look after. But, amongst his father’s family there were sons who were jealous of this special relationship, and privileges our lord had with his father, one son in particular was so jealous he wanted to spoil things for him and he set himself up in opposition to him.
This spirit son became known as Satan, meaning “resistor”. He may have started out as one of the spirit sons to look after things on the earth to care for the first humans and was eaten up with envy at the praise our lord was receiving. So he put himself in opposition to our lord and this fight will continue until the end.
Satan vss our lord Jesus.
He fought in opposition to our lord from the very beginning and he is the father of lies. (John chapter 8v44) He has also been the god over the world since getting our first parents turned out of their paradise home by his evil influence over them. (2nd Corinthians chapter 4v4)
Under his authority things started to go wrong from the very beginning when some of God’s spirit sons came to the earth to join him, we have covered this in other articles of this journal so we shall continue with the outline of the bible.
Satan has caused us nothing but problems and grief ever since he turned Eve’s mind against her husband’s instructions about the tree they were not to eat from and he has influenced our minds in the same way as he did with Eve, as Jesus tells his apostles “Satan has demanded to sift them like wheat” and we know he “entered into Judas to betray Jesus” and also the apostle Peter, when he denied Jesus, this was all down to Satan’s influence. (Luke chapter 22v31-35, 54-62) We have never experienced peace on the earth where as under the kingdom of the Christ we have been promised we will not learn war any more (Isaiah chapter 2v2-4) because his kingdom will be a righteous rulership over the whole of the earth.
The earth became so bad because of the sons of God coming down and marrying the daughters of man producing giants, freaks of nature by mixing spirit souls and earthly souls together (Genesis chapter 6) and causing havoc that a great world-wide flood covered the earth to destroy them and only 8 souls, of our father’s choosing, survived to start the earth over again. Noah, his wife and three sons and their wives. But, not long after this great cleanup Satan started influencing humans yet again and in a short time contaminated the human family once more.
It shows us in Ephesians chapter 6v12.
“For we are not contending against flesh and blood but against the principalities, against the powers against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”. This too, we have covered in this journal.
In order to preserve some righteous people on the earth, and not have everyone under Satan, our Father decided to preserve a people for his name and promised Abraham to use his seed to do this. He visited Abraham and his grandson Jacob and changed Jacob’s name to Israel instead so that his 12 sons became known as the 12 tribes of Israel. God’s chosen people. When the time came for our Father to adopt them as his son on the earth they had been in slavery in Egypt for 430 years, so now he was going to show his power to set them free. From now on his people will be under his kingly guidance instead of under Satan. But, this will not stop Satan using his influence on them as we shall see later, after they had been set free.
They ended up in slavery in Egypt because one of Jacob’s sons called Joseph used to have dreams and this upset his brothers so one day while they were tending their fathers sheep the brothers took Joseph and placed him down a dry well, then when traders came by travelling to Egypt they sold Joseph to them who took him down to Egypt and left him there. Then when a famine arose over the land the brothers were sent down to Egypt to buy food supplies and met up with Joseph once more. The whole family went to Egypt to stay because there was plenty of food for them and by this time Joseph was an important figure. This was when Moses came on the scene, God was going to use him as his servant on the earth to visit the Israelite’s to let them know they were going to be set free.
We all know the story of Moses how he was found in the bulrushes as a baby by Pharaoh’s daughter and taken into the palace and brought up by her. He had been placed there and was watched over by Miriam, his sister because a law was issued to the midwives, that no baby boys from the Israelites were to live after their birth because there was too many of them and Miriam knew Pharaoh’s daughter always went there at a certain time of day so she lay in wait to see the event.
When Pharaoh’s daughter saw him she fell in love with him and wanted to keep him and Miriam came out of hiding and told her that one of the Israelite women would take care of him until he was weaned, became a certain age. This took place so that Moses early days was with his own people before he was taken into the kings palace where he was brought as an Egyptian.
One day Moses saw an Egyptian mistreating an Israelite and he stepped in and killed the Egyptian and because of this act, he had to flee out of Egypt. But now years later he was instructed to go back to Egypt to speak to the Israelites under the direction of the holy spirit after seeing a bush that was burning with flames but was not on fire he went to see this great thing and was spoken to by God.Eventually after 10 plagues were brought upon pharaoh because of his reluctance in letting the Israelite’s go free, he eventually sent them away. They fled towards the red sea where they crossed on dry land when Moses opened up a path through the waters with the help of the holy spirit. But when Pharaoh realised all his slave workers were gone, he chased after them with his armies and while they were chasing them through the Red sea on the path of dry land that the holy spirit opened up, the sea came back and drowned them all.
The Israelites were a stiff-necked people just like the Egyptians and it did not take them long to forget this wonderful escape from Pharaoh’s armies that their complaining started. First they moaned about the food, then, it was the water that it was too bitter. Eventually God sent serpents amongst them which bit them and they would die, when they repented he provided a way out for them. He instructed Moses to make a copper serpent and hang it high on a tree so that when the people were bitten they were to look at the copper serpent and get saved. It was not long before their complaining became too hard for Moses and this eventually caused him to lose the right to enter the Promised Land. He was exhausted by their constant complaining.
They finally entered into the promised land after a trek through the wilderness for 40 years because of their rebellious nature, but their constant complaining continued. They now wanted a king they could see just like the nations around them had, so again, they were given a king, whose name was Saul. He became the first earthly king appointed by their God becoming the start of the “kingdom of Judah”.
But again they were not happy. Their second king was David and he made Jerusalem the capital for God’s people, but he was not allowed to build a temple there because he was a man of war so this privilege came down to his son Solomon.
Again, the people were not happy having a king of God’s choosing so this eventually divided the people into two groups, 2 tribes stayed and worshipped in Jerusalem and 10 tribes worshipped on the mountain in Samaria becoming the Samaritans in Jesus day and forming their own king. Both groups stayed under the laws of Moses but the 2 tribe group’s hatred towards the Samaritans were still strong even when Jesus came to the earth in the first century.
Their hostility and complaining towards their God eventually caused him to hand them over to the gentile nations.
And in 605 BCE they were handed over to serve the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar for 70 years as a punishment. They were told through the prophets that had been sent to them that if they did not subject themselves to the king of Babylon, he would send Nebuchadnezzar back to them and he will destroy their temple and their city and it shall lay desolate for a further 70 years.
It was in the first year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign that he took the city of Jerusalem in 605 BC and this was the year he took Daniel and his three other companions of his captive. They were young and handsome and they were to serve in the king’s palace. It was the order of the king that they should eat the rich fine food from the king’s table but Daniel requested they continued to eat their own food instead and this was granted them. It soon became known that Daniel had special gifts and was used by the king.
The Israelite’s really were a stiff-necked people and they refused to become subject to the king, so he did return and the temple and the city was totally destroyed. History tells us it was a long drawn out siege lasting a few years and the people were eventually starved into submission so that they ate their own children. (Jeremiah chapter 19v1-13) This happened in the kings 19th year after he first took the city and it this was 11th year of Zedekiah whom Nebuchadnezzar made king in the city. 586 BCE, and the city shall remain desolate until 516 BCE.
So even though Babylon fell to the Medes and Persians, Cyrus the king made a decree for the Israelites to return to Jerusalem in 538. In fact two other decrees were issued by king Artaxerxes,
The first one was for Ezra the scribe to go to Jerusalem in 454 BC (Ezra chapter 7v1-14) and the second decree was for Nehemiah to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls in 445 BC. (Nehemiah chapter 13v6-30)
When Ezra arrived in Jerusalem to read the laws of Moses he found that while Israel had been in Babylon they had broken the laws of their God and the written laws of Moses by marrying foreign women and had children by them, and even taking them all back to Jerusalem with them. He needed to reform them if they were to receive God’s blessing again. So he gathered them all together and told them they had to send their foreign woman and children back and cleanse the land of Jerusalem once again. Pure worship had to be restored ready for their Messiah who was prophesied to come otherwise the lineage records would have been contaminated and not accurate.
This they did but although they were now able to return to their land and their city of Jerusalem, they will remain under the gentile nations until God’s kingdom under out lord Jesus takes over the whole of the earth. The kingdom of Judah ended in 605 BC. It is interesting to note this was a question the apostles asked Jesus when he was here “are you going to restore the kingdom to us at this time”? (Acts chapter 1v6-9)
Showing how important it was to keep the lineage pure from King David to the Messiah is brought out in Matthew chapter 1v1-18 and Luke chapter 3v23-38 and this was why they had to send all their foreign wives and children away. Both Joseph and Mary were from the Royal lineage. This brings us to the time the messiah was to be revealed.
When Jesus was about 30 years of age he went to John the Baptist to get baptised by him in the river Jordan, and when he came up out of the water a voice from heaven declared “this is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew chapter 3v16,17) this is also backed up with John’s account in chapter 1v26-34.
Even though our heavenly father handed the rebellious nation of Israel over to be ruled by the gentile nations he kept his promise to send them a Messiah, one who would fulfil the laws and free them from the written laws of Moses. But true to form they rejected his son Jesus who rode into Jerusalem as their new king of Judah and had him killed. In fact when they were addressed by Pilate “behold your king” the chief priests actually declared to the Roman’s “we have no king but Caesar”. (John chapter 19v14-16
Can you imagine just how hurt this rebellion made their God feel after sending his only son to the earth to help them get free of the written laws and restrictions for them to reject his son and well as himself. It is no wonder he cast them off.
The Jews were cast off as God’s nation of people at the death of his son, it shows when Jesus died the curtain dividing the inner sanction where the Holy spirit dwelt was torn in two showing it no longer contained God’s spirit. (Matthew chapter 27v51 – 55) The city remained in favour for the gathering of the first-fruits of the kingdom for a further 3 ½ years, then in 36 CE the gentiles were invited to inherit the kingdom through faith in our lord. Thus ending Jerusalem and its temple as the holy city of God.
From now on, the city of Jerusalem, the nations of Israel will become the “spiritual nation of Israel” they will make up a new city of Jerusalem. This spiritual city will be worldwide and its church inside the city will be those who make up the body of our lord. The apostles were told after Jesus resurrection not to leave Jerusalem until after their adoption by the Holy Spirit. Acts chapter 1v6, 2v1-21.
Just as the temple was the focal point of the ancient city of Jerusalem so too the church will be the focal point inside the spiritual city and although this will be a world-wide spiritual city and church, the bible indicates it will be ONE religious group that will make up the city where the church will be taken from. Just as the Jews were one religious group in ancient times.
We also know the temple or body of our Lord will be built up upon him as the chief corner stone and the apostles who make up the 12 foundation stones to the temple or church as it is known today. What exactly does this mean?
The answer is in fact given to us by Jesus himself in a prayer to his father relayed to us in John chapter 17v6, 20-24 where Jesus acknowledges that his apostles were given to him by his father for the beginning of the spiritual temple of his body. He shows in verse 20 “I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word”. Yes! Through the word of the apostles as the foundation stones to the temple “their teachings”.
Ephesians chapter 2v13-22 says “But now in Christ Jesus you were once far off have been brought near in the blood of Christ. For he is our peace who has made us both one (the Jews and the gentiles) and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law of commandments and ordinances (the written laws of Moses) that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross thereby bringing the hostility to an end….And through him we both have access to one spirit to the father….built upon the foundations of the apostles and prophets Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the lord in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place for God in the spirit”.
This gives us guidance as to where the true body, or church, of our lord can be found today, it will be those who uphold the true teachings of Jesus and his apostles. Also it is only the church members that are inside the city that make up his body and not the city itself. Just as the temple was inside the city of Jerusalem.
So it would be useless looking at a religion on the earth today as a whole because just like ancient Jerusalem in the 1st century, it may over the years have become corrupt. Remember Jesus words “many are invited but few are chosen” so many are invited to be in the city and even worship in the temple but not all will be chosen only a few of them will be of the chosen. (Matthew chapter 22v14)
Again, Jesus said “by their fruits you will know them” he also said they would be hated by everyone because of their stand for the true teachings of Jesus and his apostles just as he and the apostle Paul had been. And here Jesus was not just referring to those INSIDE the city because the true church members of Christ’s body will not go along with false teachings in the city, they would be persecuted and kicked out. In fact the apostle Paul even chastised Peter on occasion when he was not keeping to Jesus words and straying off course due to his affliction, fear of man. (Galatians chapter 2v11-17. Matthew chapter 7v20. John chapter 17v14)
Those that make up the body of our lord today will stand out as being totally different from the world of religious teachings, their teachings are based entirely upon our lord Jesus and his apostles and they will NOT condone any teachings that are wrong.
For instance these are just a few of the wrong thoughts and teachings today.
1st. Religions that teach when we die we go to heaven!
This is not correct, Jesus says we are asleep and will wait for the resurrection during his kingdom reign of one thousand years. After all Jesus was in the grave for three days before his resurrection by his father and his friend Lazarus was in the grave four days before being raised up. John chapter 14v3 says “And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself and where I am you may be also”.
Yes! Jesus will return and take them to be with him, they will not go to him at death but he will come again and take them. So this puts paid to all spirit mediums that claim to speak to the dead. They cannot.
2nd. Religions that teach the kings or wise men visited Jesus in the stable the night he was born! The Christmas nativity.
This is wrong! The bible accounts show the shepherds were visited by the angels and they visited the stable but the men from the East travelled to Jerusalem by following a star they had seen whilst they were in the East and the report shows this was about two years after he was born and they entered into the “house” where the “young child was with his mother” that was why Herod killed all the baby boys from two years and under from the time he ascertained from the travellers from the East. No mention of how many travellers came from the East only that three different gifts were mentioned. Luke chapter 2v8-20. Matthew chapter 2v1-17. Especially vs 7, 11, 16. This too is covered in this journal under the birth of our lord.
3rd. Any religion that teach we are under any of the Mosaic laws, for instance the Sabbath or Acts chapter 15v28 with restrictions of foods or blood!
All these teachings are wrong! Jesus fulfilled all the Mosaic laws on his death and freed the Jews completely but they have chosen to remain with them which has alienated them from God. When Peter was shown a vision of unclean food and told to eat, he refused and three times a voice from the heavens told Peter “do not call unclean what God has cleansed”. The three witness bearers were the Holy Spirit speaking these words that all food is now clean to eat and nothing is unclean. Romans chapter 7v6. Acts chapter 10v9-17. Luke chapter 13v1-6 and 16v16.
4th. What about religions that address their clergy as “Father”.
This is wrong! Jesus says, “Call no man your father because you have one father who is in heaven. Neither be called master for you have one master the Christ”. Matthew chapter 23v9.
Quite recently the president of the USA addressed the Pope as “Holy Father”. What would our lord think of this?
5th. And what about Lot’s wife? All religions today teach that she was killed just because she turned around to look back at Sodom. Did God really kill her as all religions say, especially after releasing her from Sodom?
No! He did not! Every religious group today teach and believe that just because the wife turned to look behind her she was turned into a pillar of salt. Read the true account set out underneath.
Did it really happen like this? With the destruction to the city of Sodom going on whilst they were fleeing? What is interesting is, all the accounts and pictures show this destruction going on in the background while they were fleeing. So did it really happen this way? NO! It did not!
Lot’s wife was not destroyed because she disobeyed the angels telling them to flee and not look back as many claim. Not once do the angels tell them: – if you look back you will die!
If you read the account from v15-24, it shows how Lot was delaying because he was a wealthy man and did not really want to leave everything behind, so eventually the angels had to take hold of his hand and take him to the outskirts of the city. He was told to flee and not look back in the sense, do not look back at what you will be leaving behind because that would make it harder for him to flee!
This corresponds with Jesus instructions in Luke 17v29-34, “do not worry about your goods inside the house, do not go back for them” flee away and leave it all behind in order to get saved.
Lot asked to go to the near by town of Zoar and this was granted, and again the angels told him the destruction would not start until he reached Zoar and was safely inside that city. (v22) This was a direct promise. It was only after they reached Zoar did the destruction start.
So even if Lot’s wife did indeed glance back towards Sodom whilst fleeing there was nothing to see, so how could she possibly have been caught up in the destruction when they had been promised it would not start until they reached the safety of Zoar.
It does say in v26, “Lots wife from behind him looked back and she became a pillar of salt”. (RSV) But this was not whilst fleeing from Sodom, they were less than a day’s journey away and after reaching Zoar (22-23) it is more logical to assume, Lot’s wife decided to return to Sodom where her heart really was, without her husband knowing, hence behind his back.
She walked right into the storm, which killed her, and she had done exactly what Jesus was referring to in Luke she had already been saved but chose to go back for the goods in her house. She went back leaving the protection of Zoar.
To illustrate this: – it could be likened to walking through a heavy snow storm which sticks to you and covers you, disorientating you until you don’t know which way to go. This is more likely what happened to her, she started to be covered with the destructive storm of fire and brimstone (sulphur) upon the area and died there. Just like a snowman covered by snow, but a pillar of brimstone and ash.
The story everyone gives about Lot’s wife just looking back and being destroyed is just not true. In fact when God sent Moses to free the Israelites from Egypt, it wasn’t long before they started moaning, Ex 16v209 shows they were looking back in their hearts with a longing to being back in Egypt wishing they were still there in fact, but they were not destroyed for their longing, and showing great disrespect for Moses.
Some according to this account in Genesis blame God for her death, but why on earth send down angels to take them out of the area if God was going to destroy her anyway? Also if the destruction could not start until they reached safety how could it have destroyed her while she was fleeing? She was covered in Salt so where did it come from while they were fleeing and why was the rest of the family not affected? Do people really think Lot and his two grown up daughters would run off and leave her behind? I don’t think so!
No! Of course not! The angels just meant do not look back in your heart at what you are leaving behind your life is worth a lot more than possessions and if one was to keeping looking back in their heart, the heart would take over the person and they would go back. In fact if anyone said this to us ~ do not turn around and look now ~ it is only human nature to turn around and look.
Please read through Genesis 19 at these points and you will see the truth of that account but because everyone quotes v26 the rest of the details are lost and this verse stands out.
This is a very important issue involved here because of the blame involved. God did not kill Lot’s wife, she killed herself for leaving the safety of Zoar and actually going back to Sodom where her heart really was. If she had remained in that place of safety with her family she would have been saved. Also Rehab (Joshua chapter 2v1-21) was saved and everyone inside her house were saved but as verse 19 says, “if anyone goes out of the doors of your house into the street his blood shall be upon his head”, James chapter 2v25, Hebrews chapter 11v31. Luke 17v29-34.
There is a very important lesson here for everyone, never take one verse out of a chapter before reading the whole chapter of events. Yes, Lot’s wife did “look back from behind her husband” (v26) but this did not happen whilst they were fleeing the city, it happened because she decided to return to Sodom without telling her husband, which gives us a totally different meaning to v 26 just by using logic, which after all is just common sense.
6th. What about the religions today who insist using “unleavened bread” for the memorial of our lord Jesus on the night he was betrayed.
Again, we are not Jews or under any of the laws of Moses so we are not under any command to use unleavened bread. We are a new people under the Christ, Jews and gentiles, a new people from 36 CE. Jesus shows in John chapter 6 he is “the living bread” that came down from heaven that we must eat of if we want eternal life. “Living bread” active, alive, not dead without life as without leaven.
7th. The Last example I will show at this time is a very important issue and again it has been not been read correctly!
Read with me Exodus chapter 6v2,3, where I quote, “I am the lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God almighty but by my name Jehovah I was NOT known to them”.
Quite clearly our lord explains to Moses when he visited Abraham he went in the name of “Almighty God” and the covenant made with him was between Abraham and almighty God, and not our lord, then our lord explains “but by MY name Jehovah” I was NOT known to them. BUT all the Christian religions on the earth today are under a misconception that “Jehovah” is the name for almighty God. Is this correct?
No! It most certainly is not. The name Jehovah has been inserted instead of Lord in Exodus chapter 6v3 and as our lord tells Moses by MY name LORD, or Jehovah, I did not make myself known to Abraham. Our lord visited Abraham as representing his father Almighty God and the covenant made with him was with his father and not with our lord so he could rightly say to Moses he was not known by Jehovah, (lord) to him.
This brings us to the question, is Jehovah the God of the Israelite’s, the Jews? Again the answer is NO! not only have we just read in Exodus our lord was not known to them by this name but the name had not even been heard of before the 13th century CE.
The facts are, the name Jehovah was “INVENTED” by a Spanish monk named Raymundus in the 13th century as a substitute Latin word for LORD. At that time all church services were spoken in Latin and as there was a Greek substitute word for lord and as all things were now preached in Latin, it seemed just at that time to have a Latin word for lord too. Hence the word “Jehovah” was founded created. Which proves the name could not possibly have been used as a name to the Jews.
So, you may wonder why the name has appeared in our bibles today? Quite simply to fulfil prophecies.
The apostle Paul tells us in his second letter to the Thessalonians chapter 2 that the “man of lawlessness” is sitting INSIDE the temple proclaiming to be God and will be worshipped as God by the people in the new symbolic city of Jerusalem. He will be placed inside the temple by the power of Satan.
This name was not known because it did not exist before the 13th century and our God will not tolerate this deception to continue much longer. Already the POPE has been guided by our God to remove the name Yahweh or Jehovah from all their hymns and prayer books. The name has been added to God’s word and should now be removed. The first time this name appeared was by William Tyndale in his translation which has been covered in another article in this journal. In fact it has already been removed from newer translations.
Do Jehovah’s witnesses agree with this? That the name is wrong?
YES! They do.
Jehovah’s Witnesses, who was Raymundus Martini?
Update: C.E. Raymundus Martini, a Spanish monk of the Dominican Order, used it in his book Pugeo Fidei of the year 1270. Does this ring a bell?
Update 2: While the pronouncement may still not be known one thing we do know, its not Jehovah. Where does the name Jehovah come from? We can trace the name Jehovah to the first person to use it, a Roman Catholic monk from the 1200’s. “The first recorded use of this form dates from the thirteenth century C.E. Raymundus Martini, a Spanish monk of the Dominican Order, used it in his book “Pugeo Fidei” of the year 1270.” (from Jehovah’s Witnesses own book “Aid to Bible Understanding” p.884). Does this ring a bell?
Update 3: From page 18 of the Jehovah’s Witness book ‘Let Your Name Be Sanctified’ it says, “All available evidence is that a Roman Catholic clergyman introduce that pronunciation. “On page 25 in the Foreword of the 1950 New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures it says this about the Divine Name: “While inclining to view the pronunciation ‘Yah.weh’ as the more correct way, we have retained the form ‘Jehovah’ because of people’s familiarity with it since the 14th century
END OF QUOTE!
It is to be remembered our lord today is “OUR LORD JESUS” and certainly NOT our lord Jehovah. This is a complete insult to our lord Jesus who came to the earth and gave his life in order to provide us with a better future.
