In the early 16th century Henry 8th was on the throne in the United Kingdom, and at that time the whole of the country was under the Church of Rome and all the church services were said in Latin which meant no one understood what was said or taught by the church fathers. No one was able to have their own bible to read even if they could understand Latin. Also in the beginning of this 16th century there was a learned man who could speak and understand many languages including Latin and he felt that everyone should have access to the bible and to be able to read it in their own language. That man was William Tnydale. I copied and pasted an article from the internet of his early life.
William Tyndale was born about 1495 at Slymbridge near the Welsh border. He received his degrees from Magdalen College, Oxford, and also studied at Cambridge. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1521, and soon began to speak of his desire, which eventually became his life’s obsession, to translate the Scriptures into English. It is reported that, in the course of a dispute with a promminent clergyman who disparaged this proposal, he said, “If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures than thou dost.” The remainder of his life was devoted to keeping that vow, or boast. Finding that the King, Henry VIII, was firmly set against any English version of the Scriptures, he fled to Germany (visiting Martin Luther in 1525), and there travelled from city to city, in exile, poverty, persecution, and constant danger. Tyndale understood the commonly received doctrine — the popular theology — of his time to imply that men earn their salvation by good behavior and by penance. He wrote eloquently in favor of the view that salvation is a gift of God, freely bestowed, and not a response to any good act on the part of the receiver. His views are expressed in numerous pamphlets, and in the introductions to and commentaries on various books of the Bible that accompanied his translations. He completed his translation of the New Testament in 1525, and it was printed at Worms and smuggled into England. Of 18,000 copies, only two survive. In 1534, he produced a revised version, and began work on the Old Testament. In the next two years he completed and published the Pentateuch and Jonah, and translated the books from Joshua through Second Chronicles, but then he was captured (betrayed by one he had befriended), tried for heresy, and put to death. He was burned at the stake, but, as was often done, the officer strangled him before lighting the fire. His last words were, “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.” End of quote.
He went to the religious authorities to ask permission to translate the bible into the English language so that everyone could have access to it. He was denied this, so he had to travel abroad in order to fulfil his dream, and once his translation was finished (the new testament) it was smuggled into this country in 1526. Henry heard of this translation through one of his many wives and wanted to know if he would get Tnydale’s approval for him to divorce one of his wives but Tyndale told him the bible teachings were the same as the Church of Rome on divorce. But the king’s advisors told him that as he was the king he could change things if he wanted to and instead of remaining under the Church of Rome he could, as the king of England become the head of the Church of England instead. Making his own rules. This he did, by abdicating from the Church of Rome and forming his own Church of England and having a New English Bible inside the Church to be read in English.
He was ex-communicated from the Church in Rome but this did not bother him now as the head of the new Church of England. This is how the English bible came about which brings us to the question why did we need a bible in our own language anyway, and did it fit into God’s plans? Yes! It certainly did. We are told by the apostle Paul in 1st Thessalonians chapter 5v15-18 those who are alive at that time when Jesus returns who make up the temple of Jesus body, his true church, his bride, will be taken to meet up with him. So without a bible to guide us we would never know what the teachings of Jesus were or any mention of our Lord even returning to the earth. So guidance was needed. As this web page will help one to understand. http://bucketwoman.livejournal.com This was when William Tnydale came on the scene. His desire to provide everyone with their own bible in a language they could read and understand was a wonderful event. Having gone abroad to write it and smuggle it into this country was amazing. He completed the New Testament and smuggled it into the country in 1526. But because he would not sanction Henry’s divorce he became a wanted man an outlaw. His translations of the new testaments were burned but some did survive. He was finally betrayed and caught being sentenced to death; he was burned upon a stake. But it is said, his last words were, “please Lord open the king of England’s eyes”. This we know did indeed happen and the king, Henry 8th authorised an English bible to be used and read in the newly formed Church of England. Later, in time he was succeeded to the throne by Elizabeth 1st in 1558 who was the last monarch of the house of Tudor. She had many advisors to help her. She authorised William Tnydale’s bible to be copied by the Bishops and it was called “The Bishops Bible” which would be read in all the Churches of England this was in 1568, ten years after she became the queen. At the death of William Tnydale his companion Miles Coverdale completed this very important work. He finished Tnydale’s work which became the basis for the “King James Bible” today an authorised version sanctioned by King James to be read in all the churches today in 1611. This popular edition is still used today by many people. Here we have a little of the history behind our English translation of God’s word the bible without which, we would have no knowledge of our lord Jesus and his teachings so it really was an act of love for our father to provide us with this very important book of books. When we see the hardships people went through in order to get us this bible in English, the least we can do is to read and study it. It shows “no man has seen God at any time except his only son who came to the earth”. John chapter 1v18. Also it says, “ there is one God and father and one lord, Jesus Christ”. 1st Corinthians chapter 8v6. But, before Jesus came to the earth and was known as Jesus, he was called the lord just as all the references in the Old Testament agrees. But of course “Lord” is only a title not a name. We were not given a name for the Lord. John speaks of our lord as the “word” in his account of events and who better to represent and speak for our heavenly father than his “word” as spokesman. (John chapter 1v2,3) it was our lord that was used to create the earth and its heavens and all that lives in it and it was our lord that appeared to Abraham with two other angelic ones which then journeyed down to Sodom.
So the question is: ~ if our lord was not known to us in the old testament by name, was his father? I ask this because the Church and other religious groups say God’s name is Yahweh or even Jehovah. Where in the bible does it say this? It certainly does not! There is a reference to this name “Jehovah” in Exodus chapter 6v3 which was first translated by William Tnydale as “Iehouah” and translated in the King James Bible Version, as “Jehovah” which has been widely known as “God’s name” but is it?
Please get your bible and follow the theme of events with me starting in Exodus chapter 3v13-17, Moses asks the question, “if I go to the people of Israel and say to them, the God of your fathers has sent me to you and they ask me, what is his name? What shall I say to them? I am who I am has sent you…This is my name forever”. The Lord is the name I am to be remembered by. So when Moses asked the Lord what name shall he give them he was not given a personal name at all but the lord.
Now if we follow this same theme through to chapter 6 of Exodus v2,3, we can continue in this same line of thought. Remembering it was the Lord that was appearing to Moses because as we have already seen “no man has seen God at any time”, Here, our Lord confirms he is not God, because he tells us in v2 “I am the Lord I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty but by my name the Lord I did not make myself known to them”. This is so clear and straightforward our Lord was not the Almighty God but that he appeared as him, his spokesman.
To quote from William Tnydale’s version: ~ Chapter 3v15 “ And God spake further vnto Moses: thus shalt thou saye vnto the children of Israell: the Lorde God of youre fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob hath sent me vnto you: this is my name for euer, and this is my memoriall thorow out all generacyons. Chapter 6 says “Then the Lorde sayde vnto Moses: Now shalt thou see what I will doo vnto Pharao, for with a myghtie hande shall he let them goo, and with a mightye hande shall he dryue them out of hys lande. 2 And God spake vnto Moses sayng vnto him: I am the Lorde, 3 and I appeared vnto Abraham, Isaac and Iacob an allmightie God: but in my name Iehouah was I not knowne vnto them”.
But, Myles Coverdale reverts back to LORD. CHAPTER 6V2,3 “The LORDE sayde vnto Moses: Now shalt thou se, what I will do vnto Pharao, for thorow a mightie hande must he let them go, thorow a mightie hande must he dryue them from him out of his londe. 2 And God spake vnto Moses, & sayde vnto him: I am ye LORDE, 3 & I appeared vnto Abraham, Isaac & Iacob, an Allmightie God: but my name, LORDE, haue I not shewed vnto them”: Then again, when Elizabeth 1st came to the throne she sanctioned the “Bishop’s Bible”and reverted back to William Tnydale’s version using the name “Jehovah” for Lord. THE BISHOP’S BIBLE 1568 “And God spake further vnto Moyses, Thus shalt thou say vnto the chyldren of Israel: The Lorde God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isahac, and the God of Iacob hath sent me vnto you: This is my name for euer, and this is my memoriall into generation and generation”.
CHAPTER 6V2,3 2 “And God spake vnto Moyses, and said vnto him: I am Iehouah. 3 I appeared vnto Abraham, Isahac, and Iacob as an almightie God: but in my name Iehouah was I not knowen vnto them”. This was how the name Jehovah came into the King James version. But we have translated in Exodus chapter 6v3 “By my name Jehovah I was not known to them”. (Abraham) Here it shows quite clearly the lord has been translated as Jehovah. NOT GOD but the lord. And our Lord makes it very clear he was NOT known to Abraham by this name Jehovah. KJV As many religions on the earth today know there is no “J” in the Hebrew or the Greek language so the church prefer to use the name Yahweh instead, but still refers this to “the name for God instead of Lord”. So how did this come about in the first place? Logically speaking, our lord since the 1st century is called Jesus Christ, so how can he be lord Jehovah as well?
This is an insult to our lord Jesus who gave his life for us. This must be of the “antichrist” to call our lord “Jehovah”. So how did this name come about? It all came about in the 13th century CE, when a Spanish monk by the name Raymundas invented the name “Iehouah” as a Latin substitute word for Lord. At this time all church services were said in Latin and as William Tnydale was a scholar in all the bible languages he inserted the name for Lord in Exodus chapter 6v3. He was obviously guided to do this by the holy spirit for a purpose. (all this can be verified on the internet) That purpose for the name has now been fulfilled and no longer needed so the name will be blotted out of existence.
The POPE of the Church of Rome has already banned the name Yahweh from all the hymns and prayer books making the name obsolete. He did this in 2008, hopefully, no doubt all other religions will follow suit. Logically speaking, as the name was not invented until the 13th century CE its name could not possibly have been found in Exodus chapter 6. It was a sprat to catch a mackerel and the purpose has now been met. It is now time for it to go down into the abyss where it belongs. For those who will not accept the truth about this “invented Latin name” Jehovah for Lord, the apostle Paul tells us in his 2nd letter to the Thessalonians chapter 2v10 which in part says “because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion to make them believe what is false so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but has pleasure in unrighteousness”. And what is the truth that Paul is telling us? The name Jehovah is not God!
In the same chapter Paul tells us in verse 4, he is in fact “the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God proclaiming himself to be God”. In fact Paul’s 2nd letter to the Thessalonians chapter 2 tells us so mush about this lawless one. In verses 8-13 it shows not only will this lawless one be revealed as false but it shows how his death comes about too. “And then the lawless one will be revealed and the lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by his appearing and his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan will be with all power and pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved”.
So this wicked lawless one Jehovah will be killed through the holy spirit when our lord Jesus returns. Establishing this lawless one, can only be “Jehovah” who is masquerading as God in the church today and proclaiming to be him, we have learned the name was indeed “invented” as a Latin substitute word for Lord, In all Christian religions throughout the earth today there is no one who claims to be God by name even the POPE in Rome would never claim this. The only claim to be God other than our father is “Jehovah”. The man of lawlessness the apostle Paul warns us against. So, why did our heavenly father use William Tnydale to insert the name in exodus chapter 6 when it had been added to God’s word? Because, it was to fulfil all the prophecies. A sprat to catch a mackerel. William Tnydale was the sprat and this was laid down as bait. It finally caught its pray the mackerel which was “the new world translation of the bible”. How can we say this was the intended catch? Because this translation is the only one that is “spurious” (meaning not genuine or authentic) and it is the only translation which has been added to include the name “Jehovah” throughout its pages which really alters God’s word completely. The writers of this translation claims it has only replaced the name that was removed in the first place. Yes, this is true BUT when was the name removed? It was only added in the 16th century CE anyway. The time had finally come to reel in the mackerel and in 1901 the Americans brought out a translation of the bible inserting the name “Jehovah” throughout its pages and this translation was deemed to be an “unauthorised” edition because they had added to God’s word. So the name was removed and replaced with the Revised Standard Version, removing the name and reverting back to the King James edition. The writers of this edition “The New World Translation” replaced the name again with this spurious version of God’s word, which in fact making it, NOT GOD’S WORD.
By altering and adding to God’s word it brings into question the truth of our lord’s statement in Exodus chapter 6v3 where our lord states “by my name Jehovah I was not known to them” (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) but, they have disregarded this completely and state in Genesis starting in chapter 12 that Jehovah visited Abram and he made an altar to Jehovah proving Abram knew “Jehovah”. This makes our Lords statement wrong. Also, this apostate version have inserted in Romans chapter 10v13 “Everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved”. Whereas it should read “Everyone who calls on the name of the lord will be saved” referring to our lord Jesus as verse 9 says “Because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is lord and believe in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved”.
This is what happens when people meddle with God’s word and this is why this translation is spurious. So now the mackerel has been reeled in and caught, it now needs to be hit on the head and killed off just like the “American Standard Version” of 1901 when it was deemed unauthorised and apostate for adding to God’s word and was replaced by the “American revised Version”.
